The Cold Salt Series Striped Bass Sink 8 was designed to fish flies deep in heavy currents or when fish are feeding well below the surface. Featuring a 28ft Type 8 (8-8.5IPS) sinking head that cuts through wind with ease and turns over large saltwater patterns. Our Cold Salt Striped Bass Sink line features a 28 ft. type 8 sinking head with a short 3 ft. front taper for turning over the largest saltwater patterns. The short 3 ft. back taper helps load this line quickly and makes it extremely shootable. Intermediate running line removes any hinges in the line and gives you a smooth transition into the depths.
Built on a braided nylon core, this line features our signature Cold Salt jacket material for staying supple and memory free in the coldest of conditions. Finished in black and ice blue, this line is stealthy yet traceable. The Cold Salt Striped Bass Sink is perfect for throwing large flies from shore or from a boat.

Our Cold Salt Striped Bass Sink Line is built for cooler environments and will perform best in temperatures between 30 - 70 degrees (F). Our Cold Salt PVC coating is designed to remain extremely supple and memory free in the coldest saltwater conditions.
The taper design for our Striped Bass Sink line was built to be aggressive up front for turning over larger patterns and weighted flies. The short front taper paired with the aggressive body effortlessly delivers these variety of patterns with minimal false casts. The short rear taper helps excel in quick loading and fast shooting. This line is built a line and a half size heavy to load faster action rods and give you maximum loading power in a shorter period of time.
The black and ice blue finish distinguishes taper change and easily identifies the prime loading point for casting. This color combination also provides stealth and traceability whether fishing from shore or casting off a boat.
Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.
